Community Connectors are not expected to manage risk or crisis situations on their own.
If a Connector has a concern about someone’s safety, this must be passed on through the correct safeguarding channels. This includes situations where someone is:
- at risk of harm
- unable to care for themselves
- experiencing abuse
- in immediate crisis
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Training and support is in place to help Connectors respond appropriately.
Each Community Connector will be aligned with a Community Touchpoint through their volunteering activities.
Every Community Touchpoint will have its own Safeguarding Policy, and it is essential that all Community Connectors understand and follow this policy at all times.
Adhering to safeguarding procedures:
- helps ensure individuals receive the most appropriate support
- protects the wellbeing and safety of everyone involved
- enables any concerns or risks to be identified and addressed promptly
Following the safeguarding policy is a fundamental responsibility and is key to maintaining a safe, supportive and trusted environment for volunteers and community members.
